Tools to Enhance Student Engagement & Participation in Online Italian Language Courses

Friday, October 23 at 11:00 am (PST) / 2:00 pm (EST) – As teachers approach the mid-semester point of their Italian language courses, there are see some very tired faces that stare back at us from the screen. How do you recapture the enthusiasm of the start of the semester, counteract ZOOM fatigue, and focus student attention in our online Italian language courses? In this FREE teachers webinar, professors Fulvia Musti, Donatella Melucci and Louise Hipwell from the Department of Italian at Georgetown University, experienced in hybrid and online learning, will discuss technological tools that can help manage the online classroom more effectively, change the pace of the lesson and increase student engagement. The presenters will show examples of tools they have found useful in their classes at each level of the language program such as Padlet, Powtoon, Panopto, Google Docs, YouTube and Kahoot.

The activities discussed will be easily adaptable to the pedagogical needs of teachers of Italian from K-12 to College. PDF’s of the activities presented will be shared with all webinar participants.
