Friday, October 22nd from 3:00-6:00 pm EST – Teaching Italian Symposium/Workshops XIV: Do You Speak Global? Intercultural Communicative Citizenship in the Italian Classroom, our professional development program for teachers of Italian, organized by the Coccia Institute for the Italian Experience in America and Prof.ssa Enza Antenos, Italian Program, World Languages & Cultures Department.
This year’s theme on intercultural competency in the Italian classroom will feature a lively panel discussion, Competences for a Changing World, led by Symposium Chair, Prof. Enza Antenos and will feature workshop presenters Janice Aski and April Weintritt (Ohio State University) and Francesca Silvano (Pascack Valley High School) as well as MSU respondents David Del Principe (Italian Program, World Languages & Cultures Department), and Sangeeta Parashar (International Studies Program).
Due to the challenges caused by the current COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s Teaching Italian Symposium will be presented virtually via Zoom and will be completely free of charge to all participants. This year’s program has been structured to provide the same stimulating experience as when conducted in person.
Please note: In order to receive the Professional Development Certificate, participants must stay the full duration of the Symposium. Certificates will not be issued if an individual leaves the Zoom meeting early or misses a large proportion of the event. Registrants MUST update their Zoom to the latest version in advance of the event for the optimal experience.
REGISTER NOW in order to ensure your spot at TI14 and to prioritize your requests for participation in one of the two featured workshops: Incorporating Intercultural Learning Activities into Italian Language and Culture Classrooms with Janice Aski and April Weintritt or An exchange, an embrace with Francesca Silvano. Placement in workshops is assigned on a first-come, first-serve basis. Registration closes on Friday at 10:00am.
