Symphony Irvine Presents an Afternoon of Italian Music – April 19

Join Symphony Irvine under the baton of Associate Conductor Zun-Hin Woo on Sunday, April 19, 2015 at 2:00 pm for the world premiere of a work for piano four hands and orchestra, Zodiaco, by contemporary Italian composer Damiano D’Ambrosio. Guest soloists for this special event will be Emilija Pinto and Massimiliano Chiappinelli of the ensemble Piano Duo “Five O’clock.”

Also on the program is the symphony’s own James Hilsabeck performing the Flute Concerto in E minor by Saverio Mercadante.  Rounding out their musical tour of Italy are works by Mascagni (Intermezzo from Cavalleria Rusticana) and Verdi (Overture to La Forza del destino), with tenor Nathan Granner singing arias by Puccini (Che gelida manina from La Boheme and Nessun dorma from Turandot).
