“Stories of Science, Stem Cells and Freedom” – A free lecture by Italian scientist, Elena Cattaneo

Italian senator and world-renown scientist Elena Cattaneo will speak about science and freedom at Irvine’s Barclay Theater on Monday, Dec. 11. This a very special opportunity for Southern California residents interested in Italian culture, language and science!
The free public lecture titled “Stories of Science, Stem Cells and Freedom,” hosted by UC Irvine’s Sue & Bill Gross Stem Cell Research Center, takes place 7-8 p.m. at the theater on UCI campus, 4242 Campus Drive.
Dr. Cattaneo, a professor at the University of Milan, is widely recognized for her studies on neural stem cells and Huntington’s disease, which aim to identify cells, molecules and pathways that are suitable for therapeutic intervention, according to a news release. In 2013, she was appointed Senator for Life in the Italian parliament.
