Clorinda Donato, Ph.D.


Clorinda Donato is the George L. Graziadio Chair of Italian Studies at California State University, Long Beach and Professor of French and Italian. Her published research spans eighteenth-century cultural studies in the areas of knowledge transfer through translation and genre adaptation in encyclopedic compilations across six languages; she also works on gender in medical and literary accounts, the Catholic and Protestant Enlightenments in Italy and Europe, and book history.  Multilingual and intercultural teaching and research form a second core of scholarly and pedagogical pursuits over the past ten years. Clorinda is also the Director and Program Coordinator of The Clorinda Donato Center for Global Romance Languages and Translation Studies.
