Visiting Assistant Professor of Italian at Vassar College – Poughkeepsie, NY

The Department of Italian at Vassar College invites applications for a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor position for the academic year 2021-22.  Our ideal candidate is an expert in Italian Medieval and Renaissance literature and culture with a secondary focus in science and information, environmental or gender studies. A specialization in Dante studies is preferred. Demonstrated excellence in language pedagogy as well as experience teaching Italian literature and culture in Italian and English are required. Teaching load is five courses a year.

Candidates should submit: a letter of application; a CV; a graduate school transcript (unofficial copies accepted for initial application), at least three letters of recommendation, a writing sample (max. 20 pages); a diversity statement highlighting contributions to and/or future plans for promoting diversity and inclusion through teaching, research and/or professional involvements; a syllabus for an undergraduate Dante course in English; two sets of student evaluations.
