Pre-Intermediate I is designed for students who have an established high beginning knowledge of Italian. The course begins with a review of the main points that were taught in Beginning II. Throughout this 20-week course, students will learn new vocabulary regarding family habits, eating habits, shopping, and technology. Students will deepen their knowledge of the passato prossimo, learn the use of reflexive verbs in the present tense and past tense, direct and indirect object pronouns and possessive adjectives, the future tense, and the imperfetto tense. At the end of the course, students will be able to confidently talk about typical Italian recipes, talking and asking about events that will occur in the future, express their opinion on the advantages and disadvantages of technology, and speak about events that have happened in the past.
Pre-Intermediate II is designed for students who have an established high beginning knowledge of Italian. The course begins with a review of the main points that were taught in Pre-Intermediate I. Throughout this 20-week course, students will learn new vocabulary regarding the description of physical characteristics, home descriptions, and describing ongoing actions. In grammar, students will learn the comparatives and superlatives, the progressive form, the condizionale verb tense, and the imperativo formale and informale verb tense. At the end of the course, students will be able to confidently speak about memories, give advice, make comparisons, describe in detail a person and settings, compare Italian social habits and traditions with those of other countries, and give orders, recommendations, and instructions. A review of the main grammar topics in the textbook will also be provided to allow students to confidently move to the Intermediate 1 Level and to a new, more advanced textbook.
