B1 Citizenship

As of 4 December 2018, an adequate knowledge of the Italian language, at least at level B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for languages (Council of Europe 2001), is required when applying for Italian citizenship through marriage or residency.

Fondazione Italia offers several online course for different levels that focus on teaching the necessary skills to pass the CILS B1 Citizenship test.

The next session to take the B1 Citizenship exam in 2022 is scheduled for April 7, 2022.

Please note: It is the student’s responsibility to register for the exam at a testing center near them. Test date availability vary per testing site and require advanced regtistration.
