Adult Pre-Intermediate 1b is the second  course in a two-part Pre-Intermediate 1 series that is designed for students who have an established low beginning knowledge of Italian. Our goal during this 8-week online course is to continue to build new vocabulary regarding “daily life and weather,” “flavors of Italy,” “food,” and “family.” Students will learn the passato prossimo, how to use the superlative, adverbs and the passato prossimo of reflexive verb tense. At the end of the course, we hope to build a student’s knowledge to be able to confidently speak about events that have happened in the past, time spent on vacation, and family.

11 Adult Advanced 2a - Online

Adult Advanced 2a is the first course in a two-course Advanced 2 series designed for students who have an established low advanced knowledge of Italian.  Throughout this 8-week course, students will learn the congiuntivo imperfetto, continue to build the agreement between time frame and verb family.  At the end of the course, we hope to build a student’s knowledge to be able to confidently give a detailed explanation on an event that occurred in the past or present and make comparisons and judgments.

Adult Beginning 1a is the first course in a two-course Beginning 1 series that is designed for beginners with little or no Italian language background. Students will learn about greetings and introductions, pluralizing, subject pronouns, the tu/Lei distinction, the Italian sound system, numbers etc., while covering basic present tense verb families. This course aims to develop students’ basic communicative skills through learning vocabulary and grammar in order to be able to use and respond to everyday expressions in simple conversations. Our goal during this 8-week online course is to create a solid foundation in the fundamentals of Italian. Classes will be held in a live streaming virtual classroom with a native Italian speaker who has experience teaching Italian in traditional and online settings.

This 30-week course focuses on teaching beginning Italian language learners the necessary skills to pass the CILS B1 Citizenship exam (as of 4 December 2018, a B1 level knowledge of the Italian language is required when applying for Italian citizenship through marriage or residency). Throughout this course, students will not only learn Italian but they will focus on learning specific skills that will help them pass the B1 Citizenship exam. No previous knowledge of Italian is necessary to attend this course which intends to prepare students for the June 2021 exam. Please note: It is the student's responsibility to register for the exam at a testing center near them.

09 Path to AP® Italian Exam Prep Course - Online

This course is specifically designed for 9-12 grade students who already speak Italian (A2/B1 level or above) that are planning to take the AP® Italian Language & Culture exam in May 2021. During this 8-week course students will work to strengthen the grammar and language structure skills specifically required by the AP® Italian Language & Culture exam  and improve their comprehension and conversation levels. This course is a precursor to our AP® Italian Language & Culture exam offered in January 2021 that will teach to specifically to the exam. Please contact us to request an assessment test before enrolling.

Parlo Italiano 3 (“I Speak Italian”), is a high level immersion course for kids 7 to 11 years old who have completed at least two sessions of Parlo Italiano 2, are currently enrolled in an Italian dual-immersion elementary program or have the prior approval from the teacher. This course builds on increased exposure to grammatical structures in order to build confidence in communicative abilities, growing vocabulary, and improving listening, reading, writing, and pronunciation. Throughout this 8-week course, while implementing new vocabulary regarding “health and fitness” and “work,” students will begin to  learn the imperativo, and futuro semplice verb tenses, as well as grammatical structures such as comparing two or more objects by using the comparativo and superlativo. At the end of the course, we hope to build a student’s knowledge to be able to confidently express future intentions, describe events in the past, make comparisons and give an opinion on a given topic of conversation.

13 B1 Citizenship Exam Prep Course - Online

This 6-week course focuses on teaching directly to the CILS B1 Citizenship exam. Students must already be registered to take the make-up B1 Citizenship exam scheduled for October 22, 2020 and have an intermediate level of Italian proficiency to enroll in this course. Course work will be comprised exclusively of mock practice tests and exam structure overview to familiarize test takers with each part of the exam. This course does not focus on teaching grammar although if necessary, the teacher will troubleshoot areas of grammar that they see students may be struggling with.
