08 B1 Path to Citizenship Exam for Beginners - Online

Start Date: September 23, 2020

This 30-week course focuses on teaching beginning Italian language learners the necessary skills to pass the CILS B1 Citizenship exam. Throughout this course, students will not only learn Italian but they will focus on learning specific skills that will help them pass the B1 Citizenship exam. No previous knowledge of Italian is necessary to attend this course which intends to prepare students for the June 2021 exam. Please note: It is the student's responsibility to register for the exam at a testing center near them.

05 Pre-Intermediate 2b - Online

Pre-Intermediate 2b is the second  course in a two-part Pre-Intermediate series that is is designed for students who have an established high beginning knowledge of Italian. The course begins with a review of the main points that were taught in Pre-Intermediate 2a. During this 6-week course students will learn new vocabulary regarding “shopping” and physical characteristics. Students will learn the imperfetto and condizionale verb tenses as well as implementing the use of comparatives and the verbs fare, farcela, sapere and andarsene. At the end of the course, we hope to build a student’s knowledge to be able to confidently speak about memories, give advise, make comparisons and describe in detail a person and setting. Please note that if a student wishes to purchase the textbook the price is not included in the course fee.

Pre-Intermediate 2a is designed for students who have an established high beginning knowledge of Italian. The course begins with a review of the main points that were taught in Pre-Intermediate 1b. Throughout this six week course, students will learn the imperfetto and condizionale verb tenses as well as implementing the use of comparatives and the verbs fare, farcela, sapere and andarsene.  At the end of the course, we hope to build a student’s knowledge to be able to confidently speak about memories, give advise, make comparisons and describe in detail a person and setting. Beginning 1b is the second course in a two-course Beginning I series that is designed for beginners with a little Italian language background. Our goal during this 6-week online course is to create a solid foundation in the fundamentals of Italian. Classes will be held in a virtual classroom with a native Italian speaker who has experience teaching Italian in traditional and online settings. Learn the language of love, art, food and more! Adult Advanced 3a is the first course in a two-course Advanced 3 series designed for students who have an established advanced knowledge of Italian  Throughout this 6-week course, students will explore and review the most advanced grammatical structures including the condizionale passato and the periodo ipotetico. Reading and conversation will feature prominently in order to give students the opportunity to speak using all the different time frames and learn new vocabulary. 08 Path to AP® Italian Exam Prep Course - Online

This course is specifically designed for 9-12 grade students who already speak Italian (A2/B1 level or above) that are planning to take the AP® Italian Language & Culture exam. During this 6-week course students will work to strengthen the grammar and language structure skills specifically required by the AP® Italian Language & Culture exam  and improve their comprehension and conversation levels. This course is a precursor to our AP® Italian Language & Culture exam offered in January 2021 that will teach to specifically to the exam. Please contact us to request an assessment test before enrolling.

01 Focus on Grammar 2 - Online

Focus on Grammar 2 is a series of six grammar workshops that review key grammatical structures that can give intermediate level Italian students the most trouble.  Among other topics, the workshops will go over the passato prossimo vs. the imperfetto, the present conditional and subjunctive, double pronouns, prepositions and idiomatic expressions. These workshops will shed light on how to master the most intricate common errors language acquisition students make so they can speak Italian like a true native! Please note that students will not need to purchase a book for this course.

Advanced 1b is the second course in a two-course Advanced I series designed for students who have an established high intermediate knowledge of Italian. During this 6-week course students will learn to express a hypothesis and explore agreement between time frame and verb family while building a student’s vocabulary to be able to confidently make analogies and express an opinion in support or against a topic of conversation. This course will include a cultural component that explores Italian cinema, music and art.  Please note that if a student wishes to purchase the textbook the price is not included in the course fee.
